Collect into sterile container and close off the trap. . Do not transport samples with trap tubing still attached.

Routine respiratory pathogens; (this excludes mycobacteria and legionella unless specifically requested). Fungal elements are reported.

Transport

Specimens should be transported and processed as soon as possible. If processing is delayed, refrigeration is preferable to storage at ambient temperature. Delays of over 48 hours are undesirable
