Optimal time of specimen collection |
Rapid urinary antigen detection tests are available to aid the diagnosis of Legionaires disease (caused by Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 only) and invasive pneumococcal disease. |

Correct specimen type and method of collection |
A urine sample (20 mls) should be submitted from patients with severe community acquired pneumonia (CURB-65 score 3 or more) for both tests. |
