The range of samples that are permitted to be transported via the Pneumatic Tube has been increased. These now include:
Blood cultures
Swabs
Urines (N.B. take care not to overfill the container. Tighten the lid correctly, as any leaking sample may result in a shutdown of the Pneumatic Tube System. If there is room in the carrier, add paper towels to absorb any possible leakage.)
The following are still NOT permitted:
No samples with evidence of leakage
No units of blood for transfusion
No radioactive samples
No histology samples / no samples in formalin
No pleural fluids or bronchial washings
No sputum samples
No difficult to replace samples, e.g. CSF
No food or drink
No personal items
