Note that you need to take separate blood samples for each pathology discipline - microbiology, immunology, biochemistry and haematology.
All routine serum biochemistry tests can be analysed on one filled 5ml tube (yellow top). For non-routine tests please see the individual test information for sample type and volume. Transportation of specimens
On site samples: should be sealed inside a specimen bag for transportation to the laboratory via pneumatic tube or in person.
CSF, precious samples and samples that must reach the laboratory within a set time: should not be transported by pneumatic tube.
Samples from the community: should be transported in sealed sample bags within another transportation bag.
